Hawaiian Swimming E-mail Announcement Subscription Page:

Welcome Hawaiian Swimming Members,

To subscribe to a Hawaiian Swimming e-mail announcement or discussion list, please fill in each of the following form fields. All fields are required to have a valid entry before your request will be processed. Shortly after submitting your request you will receive a verification notice at the e-mail address you provided. You must 'reply' to this e-mail to complete the subscribe (or unsubscribe) process. Typically, you will be added to (or removed from) the target lists within 24 hours of your request verification. FAQs regarding these lists may be found below the subscription form.

LSC E-mail Announcement Subscription Form

Club Function(s):

(please select each function you perform)

  • E-Mail List FAQs:
    • How do I remove my name from a list?

A: Directions of how to unsubscribe from a list are included at the bottom of each announcement you receive. You will be re-directed back to this subscription page and will need to respond to the un-subscribe verification e-mail you receive after submitting a un-subscribe request. You will need to un-subscribe separately for each function list you subscribed too.

    • Do I need to change anything in my mail tool?

A: No, you do not need to change anything in your local or online mail tool to receive list announcements. However, if you have SPAM filters set on your mail tool you will likely need to change your settings to allow messages with the key phrase "lsc-" in the subject line to be accepted OR you may set your filters to allow any message with an "@hawaiianswimming.org" address in the "cc:" line to be accepted. The list-name will be included on the "subject:" line of each message and the list-address will be included on the "cc:" line of each message. If you are subscribed to multiple lists you may expand your mail sort filters to key on the name of each list.

    • "Out of Office" automated responses.

A: E-mail etiquette discourages list members from setting up their e-mail tools to send automated responses to a list address. Automated responses should only be sent to the original sender of a message only and not to anyone else on the "to:" or "cc:" lines. Offenders will be removed from message lists.

    • How do I change my e-mail address?

A: To change to a different e-mail address you need to unsubscribe from your prior list subscriptions and then re-subscribe with your new address. You will need to do this for each of the lists you originally subscribed to. If you do not have access to you old address anymore please contact the mail administrators at mailadministration@hawaiianswimming.org.

    • How will I know a message is from an announcement list?

A: Each LSC e-mail list message will have the subject line prepended with the name of the list; "lsc-announce", "lsc-coaches", etc.

    • Why are there different lists, which lists should I sign up for?

A: The information you provide in the subscription form is used to determine which LSC announcement lists you should be subscribed too. Subscribers with a specified club function (identified in the function pull-down menu) will be subscribed to lists specific to their function AND a list of general announcements for their specified island and a general announcement list for all-islands. If you perform more than one function for your club you should complete a subscription form for each function. If you subscribe for more than one function, effort will be made to avoid sending you duplicate messages as often as possible.

    • May I sign up for more than one list?

A: Yes, you may (and should) sign up for multiple lists if you perform more than one function for your club or team. For each list you signup for you will receive, and need to reply to, separate confirmation messages.

    • May I have list messages sent to both my work and home addresses?

A: To have mail sent to two different addresses, such as home and work, you will need to submit a subscription form for each address and reply to the confirmation e-mail you receive at each address.

    • What do I choose if I do not belong to a club or team?

A: There are a couple options for members who support Hawaiian Swimming but are not a member of a specific team. One option is to sign-up as "None". Maui and Big Island supporters may sign-up as associated with "MAGSA" or "BIS - Big Island Swimming" respectively.

    • What is the "Other Function" list?

A: This option is intended for members who wish to receive general LSC related announcements but do not perform any of the other specified functions for their team or club. All members who sign-up to receive announcements for a specific function will also be sent general announcements. Therefore there is no need to sign-up for the "other" function if you have already signed up for a specific function.

    • Who can 'post' messages to a list?

A: Different lists have different posting approval levels. Some lists are intended as annoument-only lists and allow only few individuals to post a message. Other lists may be set up as discussion-lists where every list member may post to the list.

    • Should I be concerned about SPAM?

A: Effort has been made to limit the likelihood of SPAM being sent through the LSC announcement lists by blocking all messages from unknown (non-list member) addresses. Additionally the LSC mailing lists do not broadcast the e-mail address of every list member in each list message. Only the address of the message poster is included in each message.

    • What does "Your request has been forwarded to the list moderator for approval." mean?

A: Some lists, such as the Coaches' List and the Officials' List, are reserved for individuals who are USA Swimming registered for the respective function. Once the list moderator has confirmed that you are USA Swimming registered your subscription will be approved. If you are not USA Swimming registered you will receive a message indicating so. Instructions will include who to contact if you think a deny message is in error.

    • What is the difference between an announcement list and a discussion list?

A: Announcement lists are lists that are used to distribute information and are NOT set up to receive replies. The lists 'lsc-announce', 'lsc-announce-oahu', 'lsc-announce-maui', are examples of announcement only lists. Discussion lists usually have fewer members and are setup to allow an unrestricted dialogue between all list members. The lists 'lsc-officials', 'lsc-officials-oahu', and 'lsc-officials-hawaii' are examples of lists set up as discussion lists.

    • Who do I contact for help regarding an announcement or discussion list?

A: Directions of how to contact the list administrator are included at the bottom of each announcement. Or, you may contact the list administrator directly at "listname-owner@hawaiianswimming.org", and replace 'listname' with the specific list prefix you are enquiring about. Or, you may contact the mail administrators at mailadministration@hawaiianswimming.org.
